The Hancock County Recorder's Office preserves many of the community's most important records, ranging from home mortgages and neighborhood covenants to business names and military discharge documents. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing you with prompt and accurate assistance with your recording and retrieval needs.

Most documents are recorded within 24 hours and will be returned in the self addressed stamped envelope which was provided when the original document was submitted for recording. In 2011, the recorder's office handled more than 12,000 documents and returned $342,758.00 in user fees to the Hancock County general fund, money that supplements property taxes to help pay for local government.
