The Hancock County Pioneer Cemetery Commission aspires to preserve the Pioneer Cemeteries of Hancock County as a tribute to the early settlers of this area. The Commission was established  by Hancock County Commissioners, Armin Apple, Jack Heiden and Brian Kleiman by way of County Ordinance No. 2001-8B on August 6, 2001. Five people were appointed to serve as its Board of Directors.
