determine the status of your building site in accordance
with planning and zoning regulations.
- Submit an application for septic permit..
Applications are available at the County Health Department.
- Contact the Surveyor’s office
for floodand drainage.
- Contact the County Highway Department.
for driveway permit.
Building Permit Application
Items Needed to Get Permits
- Three copies of plot plan prepared by
a certified land surveyor or engineer and must include the
following:
- Legal description of the property
- Existing and proposed elevations with bench marks
- Existing and proposed buildings
- Existing and proposed drainage with invert elevations
- Location of septic system and well
- Scale
- North arrow
- Must be drawn on a sheet measuring 18" x 24"
- Must have septic receipt from Health
Dept. or if on sanitary sewer system, we need receipt for
sewer connection.
- Must have driveway permits. Applications
available at the Highway Dept.
- Must have two (2) complete sets of construction
plans.
- Take plot plan to County Surveyor’s
office for a drainage approval stamp and flood plain approval
stamp(if applicable). Surveyor’s office located on
the 1st floor of the courthouse annex)
- Permit is good for one (1) year.

Warranty Deed required for any lot of
record or tracts of land exceeding ten (10) acres in size.
Assessory/Alteration Building Permit
Forms: Requirements for obtaining an Accessory/Alteration Bldg Permit
NOTE: Additions equal to or exceeding 50% of the existing ground floor area must meet the application requirements for new construction.
PRIOR TO FILING FOR THE PERMIT, YOU MUST OBTAIN DRAINAGE AND FLOODPLAIN APPROVAL STAMPS FROM THE COUNTY SURYVEYOR’S OFFICE. YOU
MAY ALSO BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN APPROVAL FROM THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT.
CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS
- Foundation Plan showing the new accessory/alteration building footprint
- Floor Plan showing the new accessory/alteration wall partitions and location of doors and windows.
- Wall Section detailed drawings showing materials, footers, foundation, wall and roof of structure. (Example attached)
- Building elevation drawing showing appearance of completed construction
PERMITS ARE ISSUED MONDAY THRU FRIDAY
WITH A MINIMUM FIVE (5) BUSINESS DAY TURN-AROUND
